Kyles Athletic 4 Ardnamurchan 4

The Kyles Athletic juniors and Ardnamurchan drew 4-4 in their noon throw up at Tighnabruaich.

Kyles got off to a blistering start with Dunkie Kerr and Thomas Whyte netting within the first couple of minutes. Herbie Patterson pulled a goal back after three minutes and Stuart MacLachlan made it 2-2 with only five minutes played. Vinny Smith and Andrew Fraser exchanged goals, so it was 3-3 just after the hour. A second Dunkie Kerr goal had Kyles back in front, but Herbie Patterson claimed his second with just five minutes remaining to ensure a share of the points.

Despite having both Nairn Jackson and Sandy Leiper suspended, Kilmory still beat Ballachulish 5-1 at MacRae Park. Craig Taylor notched a first half brace with Kian Crawford scoring and Alex Cunningham netting twice after the restart for Kilmory. Jack MacLean countered for Balla’ a couple of minutes short of the hour.

A spokesperson for Kilmory said: “This was a good performance to get Kilmory’s season back on track with a difficult Balliemore Cup tie away to Aberdour next Saturday.”

Kinlochshiel 7 Dunadd 3

It was an early start for the 10 Dunadd players, making the long journey up to Reraig for a 1pm throw-up against Kinlochshiel for the second time this season.

Going into the match, Dunadd would have been considered the underdogs, having lost the previous two meetings convincingly.

However, the home side was perhaps taken aback when some nice link-up in the midfield, from mother-daughter duo Grace Drummond and Betsy Jeffrey, led to Eilidh Cameron executing two early goals.

The unexpected lead looked to cause the home team some frustration but they rallied and got their first goal after 30 minutes.

Heading towards the half-time whistle, Dunadd felt they deserved to go in ahead - the defensive partnership of Ellie Hetherington and Anna Nicolson were doing a fantastic job to stem the ‘Shiel attack. However, right on the stroke of halftime, they bagged another, making it 2 - 2 at the break. The second half continued to be an even game with both teams hungry for more goals.

When Kinlochshiel pulled ahead, Dunadd responded - another from Cameron securing her hat-trick.

The scoreline stood 4-3 with 20 minutes left to play. As Dunadd pushed for an equaliser the home side pulled ahead another time, and as the game unfolded two more goals were netted by Kinlochshiel.

Inveraray 9 Oban Celtic 0

Inveraray ladies recorded 9-0 victory over Oban Celtic at their 2pm throw up at the Winterton on Sunday, on a wet overcast day.

The first half was full of action with battles all around the pitch. The second half fell flat as the conditions played on the teams as the shinty became a struggle, with only a couple of goals being scored.

Scorers for Inveraray were Jayne Young, Katie Mackay - who shot four past the Oban Celtic keeper - Dana Clarkson, two and Cara Blyth, two.

Coach Ally Munro said: “It was the way the ladies played their shinty that was great to see, after having not had a game in quite a few weeks, getting back into a match and implementing what we have been doing in training was great and all credit to the players.”
