MESSAGE OF THE MONTH
John Herron
I live close to Lake Michigan, so I’m hooked on the changing skies and colours of the lake for reference for my watercolours. Whilst online, I recently discovered the Normandy town of Etretat in France. This picturesque spot attracted many Impressionist painters, who sought to capture the cliffs on canvas. I then saw the work of Beatrice Cloake and that convinced me I should travel there in June to paint, where I hope to find some inspiration. I did some digging to see if Etretat had an art club, museum or other place where I could set up and work. I even searched for local artists who I could contact for some guidance. No luck. I wonder if there are there any readers of Artists & Illustrators who can provide some information about Etretat from an artist’s perspective? I’ll be traveling from Chicago and will stay at a local hotel. Thanks very much in advance for any and all suggestions.
The Ed says: If anyone has any information about Etretat for John, get in touch and we’ll pass it on or connect you!
