DISTANT LIGHT

Next it was important to get down some of the lighter colours in the tonal range, to represent things in the distance, such as the lower sky and far away trees and bankside. I started to use the range of light greens and blues to achieve the silvery, shimmering quality of light I felt was central to this painting. At this stage I also found the area on the canvas where the boat met the water, a key element in the composition.
