MIXING ON THE BRUSH

This would have been heresy for me a few years ago, when I insisted each colour be painstakingly mixed on the palette. The time constraints of plein air painting have made me rethink this dogmatic approach, and be freer about using the brush to make subtle mixtures between the colours already prepared on the palette. Clean the brush after each application so the colours don’t get muddy.
