STEP 2 MAGENTA
The magenta layer provides two things: it is a tonal underdrawing that establishes a base of midtone and it contributes to the warm colours of the face. Don’t go too heavy with your marks at this early stage, but maintain a light hand, brushing the pencil onto the paper. You can always add little extra dashes of
Magenta later, but it is much harder to erase early layers away than it is to add more colour to the page.
