Iconic stones face closure
DOVEDALE’S iconic stepping stones are to close temporarily following severe erosion to one of the riverbanks.
The stones are in good condition but recent wet winters have led to powerful flows that have washed away the bank on the Derbyshire side of the Dove. This has caused a watery gap to develop between the end of the stepping stones and the path when the river is high.
The work should take only a couple of days and walkers will use the footbridge.
