Volunteers to help battle rural crimes
TWO new volunteers have joined the Derbyshire Dales rural crime team.
Mark Ryder and Ian Lees have been recruited to the Police Support Volunteers team alongside Marilyn Barratt.
The new pair will help officers engage with rural communities in the area and advise residents on security issues.
They are aiming to visit each and every working farm in the Derbyshire Dales to carry out crime prevention surveys.
Sgt. James Shirley, of the Derbyshire Rural Crime Team, said: “We are pleased to welcome Mark and Ian to the team, and grateful for the work of all our volunteers which will help us to reach as many members of our rural communities in the Dales as we can.
“The advice they can offer is very valuable and could help people to reduce the risk of their properties, and livelihoods, being affected by crime.”
