Care home’s birthday treats

A DERBYSHIRE care home threw a birthday bash to celebrate its fourth birthday with staff, residents and their families.

Ashbourne Lodge care home, part of the Milford Care group, opened in September 2014 with only four residents. It is now at full occupancy and has 60 staff working full-time.

Stacy Sandham, activity coordinato­r at Ashbourne Lodge, said: “I have worked here for four years, I love it – couldn’t see myself in any other career.

“Jim, the care home manager, is a fantastic boss, he’s very supportive to all the staff here and loves getting involved with the residents.’’

the care home welcome residents’ families for a buffet prepared by the home’s chef Richard.

There was a cake baked for the occasion and singer Ross put on a performanc­e for everyone. Peter, son of resident Herbert, said: ‘’My dad is 93, he’s been living here for a year and it’s the best home around.

“I really appreciate everyone here, my Dad has made friends and I visit him regularly.’’

Pam Titterton, a team leader, said: “I started working here in April and I love it here, I have worked in care for four years.

“The home has amazing ideas, such as this party, as well as a book club and a reminiscen­ce room. I have a really good relationsh­ip with all of the residents.’’

Ashbourne Lodge already has plans in place for the rest of the year, – including a Macmillan Coffee Morning, a Dementia café and a Christmas market.
