● Derbyshire Dales District Council announced plans to spend £12,000 on a cost and design study to reopen Ashbourne’s railway tunnel, extending the Tissington Trail into the town. The structure had been closed since 1967 but was part of the Agenda 2000 initiative, which sought to improve things in the town ahead of the new millennium.

● Derbyshire Dales District Council boosted hopes for a new public sports hall by topping up a £34,000 funding pot to £100,000. The project was set to cost £800,000.
