TOM IS SOAP BAD BOY!
PARWICH actor Tom Chambers has landed himself a TV new role which takes him back to his village roots.
The former Casualty and Holby City star made his debut last week in Emmerdale, ITV’S Yorkshire-based multiaward-winning soap.
Mr Chambers, who was brought up in Parwich, made the headlines 10 years ago when he won Strictly Come Dancing with his professional dance partner, Camilla Dallerup.
He is now playing the role of Clive, the mysterious fiancé of Leyla Harding.
Leyla, an unlucky-in-love character played by Roxy Shahidi, returned from Greece earlier this month and made a stunning revelation to her friends, announcing she was in love with a man named Clive whom she met while away – and they were due to marry.
It was revealed in Thursday’s episode that bad boy Clive has a mischievous history which Leyla is unaware of.
Mr Chambers has also appeared in the BBC school drama Waterloo Road and performed in a number of musical shows up and down the country.
Born in Darley Dale, Mr Chambers was a pupil at Repton School, where he met his wife, Clare Harding.
He has spoken in the past of his fond memories of his time at Parwich Primary School – and the days he spent with his friends on his bike on the Tissington Trail.
In 2008, the News Telegraph reported on Mr Chambers’ weekly success on the popular BBC Saturday night show, Strictly Come Dancing.
Friends and family in Parwich packed his local pub, The Sycamore Inn, to cheer him on as he and Ms Dallerup went on to win the competition after being reprieved when finishing bottom of the leaderboard in the semi-finals.
Mr Chambers became the third male winner.
He said being in the show was “a dream come true” and he even had to change the date of his wedding to compete in the series.
Emmerdale can be viewed Monday to Friday on ITV1 at 7pm with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
