A stroll around the boundaries

St Oswald’s Walking Group

Ashbourne News Telegraph - - CLUBS & SOCIETIES -

AUDREY and Mike were in charge of this month’s walk, which was a repeat of part of the May 2015 route, and part of the Brailsford Group of Parishes boundary walk.

Starting from Brailsford Church and ending at Youlgreave, a rather depleted number of walkers followed attractive field paths and quiet lanes to Shirley (church number one).

From there it was through Osmaston Park to Osmaston (church number two), and more fields to Edlaston (church number three).

The last church of the day was Youlgreave. The total distance of 8.5 miles was completed in record time.

The group has in the past used the idea of plotting a route which visits a few churches on the way. The St Oswald’s group of parishes has been linked on two occasions as a “Rogation Walk”.

We have also linked together Tissington, Bradbourne, Ballidon and Parwich. And of course, we completed the 39mile Peak Pilgrimage Walk from Ilam to Eyam in 2017, visiting 13 churches altogether. Our next walks will be on Saturday, November 24.
