Pray and play time for kids
Edward Bear at St Oswald’s
AFTER saying goodbye in July to 10 of our children who have started school, we are pleased to welcome five new families who have joined us.
Edward Bear’s team of volunteers continues to deliver a programme of ‘praise and play’ which is made up of storytelling, prayer, craft, singing and instruments.
Over the past few weeks we have explored stories and themes from ‘Diddy Disciples’ our worship and storytelling resource about The Good Samaritan, The Lost Coin, The Lost Sheep and The Prodigal Son.
We have just celebrated Harvest Festival by singing songs about planting and the harvesting of wheat; celebrating and saying ‘thank you’ to ‘God the Maker’ for all the wonderful food that he supplies to us.
We shared bread together and sang the ‘Harvest Samba’ (words for this are in the Edward Bear area and are great fun to sing).
We are fortunate to have had two mothers come forward to become more active members of the Edward Bear Team: Anna (with baby Charlotte) are leading ‘Tommy Thumb’ prayers and Reina (with Luke) takes more of a lead with our singing and instruments. How wonderful this is!
Edward Bear continues to support the Moses Charity. Week by week families are bringing and filling Moses Baskets with essential items to be sent to expectant and nursing mothers and their newborn babies in war-torn areas of Syria and in the ‘holding camps’ in France.
Edward Bear Praise and Play for under fives and their parents/carers meets in term time on a Thursday morning in the Church Centre from 9.30am to 1.30pm. For more details, contact the church office on 01335 343194.
