Name: Mark Gadsby
Lives: Clifton, Ashbourne
Kids? Two nephews – and lots of godchildren!
About you: Passing my bus test at the age of 18, I absolutely love being with people and members of the public, I have a great sense of humour, fun and a big heart with a caring nature - I can be serious when the need be! My life totally changed when I joined the Empire Ballroom Slimming World group in June 2014 and lost seven stone. I later became a consultant in 2015, running groups in Derby and then put my PSV management career on hold and became a team developer and I absolutely love, helping people achieve their weight-loss dream.
Three things you like: Slimming World, coaches and buses, and being sociable.
Three things you dislike: Disloyalty, upsetting people I love and care for, and ignorant people
Are you an Up’ard or a Down’ard? Down’ard
Born and bred: I was born in Derby, but I’ve always lived in Ashbourne.
Family matters: My Mother... she’s my world, rock and bessie mate! Mine and mum’s dog Bruno, my amazing sister Clare with my brother-in-law Stephen and two young gentlemen nephews Samuel and Charlie, my Grandma Mee. Then my extended family and amazing friends.work-wise: I’m a Slimming World consultant Thursday evenings at Ashbourne Hilltop Primary and Nursery School from 5pm and from 7pm and from Saturday, November 10 I’m going to be taking over the 8.30am St John’s Community Hall Slimming World group on Auction Close and I manage my amazing team of consultants in Derby South East!
What are you best at? Big bear hugs, larking about, being a loyal friend and driving a bus!
Your ideal holiday: Just come back from it – Corfu! Absolutely loved the place. If you’ve not been, get yourself there! But I am looking forward to my second visit to Disneyworld and Orlando next Easter!
Your favourite food: Well - you haven’t got enough pages in this paper! The beauty of foodoptimising free foods - yummy lasagne, shepherd’s pie, chips, spag bol, leek and potato Pie, full English breakfasts, jacket potato with baked beans and mushy peas, meat or veggie quiches, breakfast muffins... yum yum yummy!!!
Who inspires you? I am just me every day is a new day and I am who I am!
If you ruled the world, what is the one thing you would change? Gosh - I don’t know... There’s lots of things I could change, but the one thing that does stand out for me is cruelty - humans and animals...
What would it say on your epitaph? I’ve got a bit of a reputation for being late so it would have to be .... “It’s better to be late in this world, than the next”.
