Humbug! So what if it is only November?

-

WANT to put up your Christmas tree? Don’t listen to the ‘it’s-only-november-ists.’

Many would say that you shouldn’t put your tree up until December. You may be sitting there, out of fear of being criticised, wanting to put your tree up as soon as possible.

According to social media, if you have your tree up already you should take a good, long hard look at yourself in the mirror and ask what on earth you are doing with your life!

With cities, towns and Ashbourne getting themselves ready for the big season, why shouldn’t we be able to do what we like without fear of backlash?

We like to call them the ‘it’sonly November-ists’ because that’s what they say: “It’s only November”.

We are half-way through November and John Lewis has released its Christmas advert with Sir Elton John featuring in it.

Reportedly, he’s been paid a staggering £5m to star in it, which is perhaps too much.

Stores are already selling Christmas trees, lights, presents, advent calenders and food.

Our children are already getting ready for their nativity plays and film companies are already releasing new films based around the festive season.

Let’s not forget the weather. According to the Met Office, temperatures are about to dip down to their single figures this week with lows of freezing.

But “it’s only November”, we hear them say. Who cares if it’s only November and who cares when you put your Christmas tree and decorations up?

Don’t listen to the naysayers or the traditionalists. It’s fair to say that Christmas comes earlier every year and many people don’t like that.

Despite it not being December, the festive season is already upon us. Don’t listen to the “it’s-onlynovember” brigade.
