Marty to rock and roll back the years in Solid Gold show

THE father of British Rock’n’roll will be visiting Derbyshire next year.

Marty Wilde and his band The Wildcats are set to embark on his nationwide 80th birthday tour, which will also feature fellow original Dreamboats of the first wave of British rock music.

Other acts will include Mike Berry, Eden Kane, and Nancy Ann Lee, which will be all part of the ‘Solid Gold Rock ‘n’ Roll show.’

The show looks back upon an era of music that’s reverberat­ions are felt even today, half a century on. Marty is considered as one of the first British artists to emulate American rock and roll.

The legendary rocker will be visiting Buxton Opera House on June 1 2019 and the show looks back upon an era of music that’s reverberat­ions are felt even today, half a century on.

The artist is famous for his hits such as Donna, Sea of Love, and A Teenager in Love. He also helped write other famous songs such as Ice In The Sun for Status Quo and Kids In America for his daughter, Kim.

He also appeared regular on TV shows such as 6.5 Special and was the main regular artist on the Saturday music shows Oh Boy! and Boy Meets Girls. He is the father of pop singers Ricky and Kim Wilde.

Last year, in recognitio­n of 60 years’ commitment to British music, Marty received an MBE at Buckingham Palace from the Queen.
