Villagers set to get festive
VILLAGERS in Hognaston are starting a big programme of festive celebrations on Sunday, by turning on a spectacular display of Christmas light at St Bartholomew’s church on Sunday at noon.
Inside the church will be lit up with some 30 trees decorated by residents, village groups and local business sponsors.
Among the events will be a festival concert on December 22, which is an all-village production featuring Hognaston Choir, musicians and soloists – and will premier the Hognaston Carol specially commissioned for the festival.
Tickets for the matinee at 2.30pm and evening concert at 7.30pm are priced at £7.50 and are available by emailing jowigham@gmail.com
Other events include an advent calendar taking place around the village with a new window on display each day until Christmas Eve.
A carol service will be in the church at 4pm on Sunday, December 23.
