● Thieves grabbed more than £2,000 of chil­dren’s clothes dur­ing an overnight smash-and-grab raid at Acorn Coun­try Store in Horse and Jockey Yard. The shop, which suf­fered £200 worth of dam­age was able to open the next day af­ter sup­pli­ers ral­lied round to help it re­stock.

● It was all sys­tems go for what was promised to be the big­gest and bright­est late night shop­ping ever in Ash­bourne. The dec­o­ra­tions were due to be switched on on the night and shops were get­ting ready for a busy evening.
