Jackson a hat-trick hero
ASHBOURNE Aztecs Under-16s finished 2018 on a high with an 8-1 win against Belper Town U16s.
Tyler Jackson scored a hat-trick as the Aztecs stay top with a maximum 24 points from eight games.
Tyler Burton opened the scoring before defender Jack Green made it 2-0.
Alex Cheetham scored the third with a long-range strike from an acute angle before Jackson scored his first to give the Aztecs a 4-0 halftime lead.
Cheetham completed his brace early in the second half after good work by Adam Leigh.
Some fancy footwork from James Donlan set up the Aztecs’ sixth goal, put away by Jackson.
Josh Wheeldon and Thomas Barker went close to increasing the lead before Jackson completed his hat-trick.
There was a consolation for Belper when Ashbourne gave away a free kick just outside the penalty area and keeper Jack Thomas stood no chance.
The last word went to the Aztecs, though, as Owen Bailey scored the eighth goal.

Freddie Murphy put Aztecs in front and scored a second before the break but by that point Hatton had scored five to take control.
In the second half, the Aztecs battled bravely and stand-in goalkeeper Max Morrison made some fine saves.
