Jack­son a hat-trick hero

ASH­BOURNE Aztecs Un­der-16s fin­ished 2018 on a high with an 8-1 win against Belper Town U16s.

Tyler Jack­son scored a hat-trick as the Aztecs stay top with a max­i­mum 24 points from eight games.

Tyler Burton opened the scor­ing be­fore de­fender Jack Green made it 2-0.

Alex Cheetham scored the third with a long-range strike from an acute an­gle be­fore Jack­son scored his first to give the Aztecs a 4-0 half­time lead.

Cheetham com­pleted his brace early in the sec­ond half af­ter good work by Adam Leigh.

Some fancy foot­work from James Don­lan set up the Aztecs’ sixth goal, put away by Jack­son.

Josh Wheel­don and Thomas Barker went close to in­creas­ing the lead be­fore Jack­son com­pleted his hat-trick.

There was a con­so­la­tion for Belper when Ash­bourne gave away a free kick just out­side the penalty area and keeper Jack Thomas stood no chance.

The last word went to the Aztecs, though, as Owen Bai­ley scored the eighth goal.

Fred­die Mur­phy put Aztecs in front and scored a sec­ond be­fore the break but by that point Hat­ton had scored five to take con­trol.

In the sec­ond half, the Aztecs bat­tled bravely and stand-in goal­keeper Max Mor­ri­son made some fine saves.

Luke Ford scored Aztecs’ third and then hit the cross­bar but there was no chance of a come­back as Hat­ton scored three more in the sec­ond half to seal the win. fell to an 8-3 de­feat
