Roston see lead cut after surprise loss

ASHBOURNE Town Darts League leaders Roston Inn slipped to an unexpected home defeat when Shoulder A won the final doubles to take a 5-4 victory.

Chris Bates scored six registers for Shoulder, while Craig Brassingto­n scored four registers and Steve Brookes had a 180 for Roston.

Their lead is now down to two points after second-placed Parwich Sycamore edged a 5-4 win at home to Compton X.

Matthew Fentem scored four registers for Sycamore, while Tony Hodkinson scored four registers, including a 96 double start, and Andy Hill scored four registers including a 180 for Compton.

Rob Smith scored three registers, including a 100 double start, and Gavin Ratcliffe hit a 180 and had a 19-dart singles for Mayfield Arms in an 8-1 home win over X Men. Steve Millward scored four registers for X Men.

Bowling Green went to Red Lion and won the final doubles to take a 5-4 victory.

Guy Chambers and Dan Ford both hit three registers for Tiger A in a 6-3 win at Wheel. Nathan Garside scored three registers for Wheel.

Roston B won 6-3 at Shoulder B. Division Two leaders Nag’s Head also slipped up, losing 5-4 away to Crown Jewels.

Mark Foley had an 82 finish for Crown Jewels, while Richard Lowe scored four registers, including a 120 double start, for Nags Head.

Smith’s Tavern are still second but they are only a point ahead of Mezzas Arms after losing 5-4 away to them.

Edd Wilson scored three registers for Mezzas and Jake Ford scored three for the Smith’s.

Mark Hitchcock scored three registers and Callum Pattinson had a 106 finish for Shire Horse during their 6-3 away win against Ex-servicemen’s Club. Paul Cotton scored five registers including a 116 double start and had a 21-dart singles for the hosts.

Tiger landlord Marc Strzyzewsk­i hit three registers for his pub’s B team during their 6-3 home win against Boylestone Arrows.

The Bullets won 6-3 at home to Shoulder C.

In Division Three, Lee Dean scored six registers, including a 177, for Smith’s Tavern B during their 6-3 win at home to Denstone Tavern.

John Ford hit four registers and Hugh Kirkpatric­k had a 100 double start, and 86 finish and a 21-dart singles for Wheelies when they were ASHBOURNE Rugby Club had their last game before the winter break called off on Saturday.

They were due to play at home to Newark but a frozen pitch put paid to that.

Ollie Ruddock’s men would have gone into the game on a roll, having beaten Derbyshire rivals Matlock at home and Midlands Two East (North) leaders Melbourne away in their last two fixtures.

Defeats on Saturday for Long Eaton, to bottom club Southwell, who away to White Swan and won 5-4.

Bluebell KL, at home to Holly Bush, won 7-2.

Straight Outta Compton won 6-3 at home to Royal Oak.

Tonight sees the Ladies’ Singles and Doubles at Compton Social Club. Players need to register for 7.30pm. Christmas jumpers and Santa hats are optional.

Ashbourne unable to play
