Travellers served with court order after move
COURT order has been served on a family of travellers that had illegally pitched up on an Ashbourne car park.
The family, which moved to the leisure centre car park last Sunday after being asked to leave the Fishpond Meadow overspill car park, had been asked to go to a temporary tolerated site in Matlock Bath.
But instead they moved their five caravans half a mile away across Ashbourne.
Derbyshire Dales District Council immediately responded by applying for a court order, forcing them to leave, and this was served on Friday, shortly before the News Telegraph went to press.
The family can then choose to move to the Tinti’s Yard overspill car park in Matlock Bath, but they may decide to move to another unauthorised encampment elsewhere.
The caravans were still in situ at the leisure centre car park on Friday afternoon.
