Izzy gets busy to show write stuff
A PUPIL from Kniveton Primary School has been hailed the winner of a county-wide writing competition.
The challenge, set by Denstone College, asked children from years four and five to write a short piece to describe one thing that they would change about the world and explain how they would do it.
Izzy Omotosho wrote about how she wanted to make it easier for girls in Africa to go to school. She wanted to create a worldwide girls’ newspaper, funded by newspaper companies, written and read by girls all over the world.
Out of all the entries Izzy came first and she was invited to a presentation evening at Denstone where she was awarded a £100 Amazon voucher by the headmaster, Miles Norris.
Headteacher Lynn Board said: “We are extremely proud of Izzy. She showed real con- cern for girls in Africa and how their lives are different to hers.
“It would be amazing if a newspaper company took up her idea.”
