Pals get on their bike to help kids in India

-

A PRIMARY school pupil has led friends on a fundraising cycle ride around Carsington Water and the team raised more than £1,300 for their favourite cause.

The pupils, from Carsington and Hopton Primary school, are helping to buy resources for their partner school in the Kolkata slums. Year Two pupil Josh Patterson and his pals rode around the reservoir and attracted enough sponsorship to send the gifts to India with their teacher Aimee Tinkler.

She will travel there to deliver training for a group of teachers from some of Kolkata’s poorest areas.

The visit is a continuation of the link between Carsington and Hopton and Kolkata. Mrs Tinkler said: “Our link with India provides our children with an invaluable insight into how other children live.

“We are really pleased to be able to help the children in Kolkata and the amount of money Josh and his friends have raised will have a huge impact on the lives children in our link school.”
