Pals get on their bike to help kids in In­dia

A PRI­MARY school pupil has led friends on a fundrais­ing cy­cle ride around Cars­ing­ton Wa­ter and the team raised more than £1,300 for their favourite cause.

The pupils, from Cars­ing­ton and Hop­ton Pri­mary school, are help­ing to buy re­sources for their part­ner school in the Kolkata slums. Year Two pupil Josh Pat­ter­son and his pals rode around the reser­voir and at­tracted enough spon­sor­ship to send the gifts to In­dia with their teacher Aimee Tin­kler.

She will travel there to de­liver train­ing for a group of teach­ers from some of Kolkata’s poor­est ar­eas.

The visit is a con­tin­u­a­tion of the link be­tween Cars­ing­ton and Hop­ton and Kolkata. Mrs Tin­kler said: “Our link with In­dia pro­vides our chil­dren with an in­valu­able in­sight into how other chil­dren live.

“We are re­ally pleased to be able to help the chil­dren in Kolkata and the amount of money Josh and his friends have raised will have a huge im­pact on the lives chil­dren in our link school.”
