Performers and trees light up village concert
MUSICAL villagers celebrated a Countryside Christmas at their third annual Hognaston Christmas concert.
St Bartholomew’s Church was a perfect festive scene on Saturday, December 20, for a feast of music ranging from Yuletide classics sung by the specially-formed village choir to French and Spanish pieces such as the Flower Duet sung by Mia Mitchell and Grace Tower as well as Lucy Hill’s performance of Feliz Navidad.
The church was glistening with decorations and lined with locally-sponsored Christmas trees as part of the Hognaston Winter Festival.
The show also featured the ‘Hoglets’ – a group of primary school singers who lit up the church with their comical rendition of The 12 Days of Christmas.
The second half was a showcase of local talent including Crich-based violinist Charlotte Hand who treated the audience to Bruch’s first violin concerto.
Concert organiser Sharon Green said: “I would like to thank all the performers who helped make this such a wonderful day and contributed to a very talented programme.”
The concert was wrapped up by the Rev Phil Michell, who described Hognaston as a “talented village.”
