New police website for dashcams
A NEW website which allows you to send dashcam footage to police has been launched in Derbyshire.
Derbyshire Capture accepts digital video clips or still images of road traffic incidents.
Footage will only be investigated if it is less than 10 days old and you must be willing to make a statement about the incident.
Assistant Chief Constable Kem Mehmet said, because officers will have to attend less appointments to view dashcam footage, police will be able to spend more time on the streets.
He said: “This new system will provide a quick and easy way for the public to submit footage to us.
“So many drivers and road users now have dashcams or other video recording devices which capture footage that may be of use to us when investigating an incident.”
The website is https://snap. derbyshire.police.uk
Cyclists who believe they have been a victim of an offence, including a “close pass”, can also submit footage. Drivers who believe they have footage of a cyclist committing an offence can submit it, too.
