Step lively to catch top Irish dancers
A Two-hour dance and music show is celebrating its 20th year at Buxton Opera House.
Rhythm of the Dance, created in 1999, is packed with futuristic dances, eyecatching lighting and sensational sound effects.
It is inspired by the journey of the Irish Celts throughout history and is considered one of the top three Irish step dance shows in the world.
Dancers will change costumes a whopping 25 times and the spectacle promises to combine traditional dance with modern technology to give audiences of all ages “a unique experience”.
It has won multiple awards and wowed over seven million people across more than 50 countries.
The show is produced by Kieran Cavanagh, who has been promoting Ireland’s top international superstar singer Daniel O’donnell for more than 30 years.
It is choreographed by Dane Mckiernan, who is also lead dancer. Dane has been dancing since he was six years old and came to Rhythm of the Dance in 2014. Amy Marie Prior, also lead, has won six world medals and five southern regional Oireachtas for Irish Dancing.
In 2016 she joined Rhythm of the Dance as lead female dancer.
The main dancers are among the most accomplished Irish dancers in the world, according to the show.
A representative for the show said: “We are proud to boast numerous national, international and world champion dancers; their dedication to the art form of Irish dance is clear on stage.
“With their graceful movement and disciplined control, they make the complex choreography look easy; what is not evident is the off-stage commitment required to reach the pinnacle of Irish dance demanded by the show.
“With the rigours of touring – often every night of the week – and constant rehearsals and practice, working and re-working routines mean a 24/7 dedication.
“These super-fit dancers deliver a thrilling, driving performance onstage every time.”
The show is set to take place at Buxton Opera House on Sunday, August 4 this year. Tickets can be booked by calling 01298 72190 or at buxtonoperahouse. org.uk
