Name: Abi Bowden

Age: 26

Lives: Brailsford

Married? No but I have been with my partner for 10 years.

Kids? I have a four-year-old boy.

About you: I am always described as bubbly, outgoing and friendly, I thoroughly enjoy new challenges having recently completed my first skydive and I’m about to embark on a Midnight Trek to the summit of Snowdon both in aid of the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice. Three things you like: Spending time with family and friends, holidays abroad and a good old brew!

Three you dislike: Fish, being bored and I can’t think of anything else I extremely dislike!

Are you an Up’ard or a Down’ard? I’m sorry but I’m neither.

Born and bred: I’m Leek born and bred, moved out of the town in 2011 when I went to university. I do get a lot of stick from customers about my “look, book and cook”.

Family matters: My family are all in Leek. My mum, Helen, is a psychology teacher in Biddulph and her partner, Nigel, is a builder. My partner, Dan, is 28, Leek born and bred also.

Work-wise: I started working in Ashbourne in April 2018 at Leek United Building Society as a Customer Assistant after several years in recruitment and retail. I recently received a fantastic promotion to Ashbourne’s Branch Manager. At university I volunteered as a Special Constable.

What are you best at? I love interacting with people and doing the best I can to help and support them. I’m always looking to go above and beyond.

Your ideal holiday: I’ve always wanted to go to the Bahamas, as I can’t imagine anything better than white sandy beaches and bright blue sea. However, my favourite destination with my family is

Turkey.

Your favourite food: I love everything and there is a small amount of stuff that I don’t like.

Who inspires you? Barack Obama as he was voted President of the United States by being himself; he is always positive and friendly and has a very warm presence. His achievements speak for themselves and he has a good sense of humour. Also, one of my best friends mum, Helen Mudie, she is the kindest, most welcoming person I have ever met and is always around to support us girls no matter what we have done!

If you ruled the world, what is the one thing you would change? I’d change plastic in the oceans.

The overuse of plastic is seriously damaging our Oceans, we should be taking care of this huge wonder that we have, not destroying it. However, more realistically I’d substantially reduce the cost of holidays as I think everyone deserves a break abroad however, because of the rise in prices in these it’s not always achievable for families.

What would it say on your epitaph? Thank goodness, it’s quiet around here now.
