148 more virus cases in county

THE total number of coronavirus cases reported in Derbyshire at the time of going to press stood at 2,129 – up by 148 from the 1,981 cases reported last week.

The number of Covid-19 deaths recorded at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Trust has now reached 444, a rise of 20 over last week’s figure of 424.

The most recent Office for National statistics showed that while the number of deaths nationally was slowing for the third week, there were 55,000 excess deaths in the UK by early May.
