Pavilion team looking for extra helpers
AS work progresses on the construction of Ashbourne’s new sports and community pavilion, the Ashbourne volunteers who have brought the project to fruition are looking out for extra pairs of hands.
Ashbourne Sports and Community Partnership has been watching its contractors demolish the old Memorial Pavilion, on Ashbourne’s Recreation Ground, and is geared up for the new building, paid for with grants and public donations, to take shape.
The team says engineers have been on site to mark out foundations ready for next week when the foundations will be dug and concrete footings will be poured.
The partnership team is now looking out for people who can bring new skills. They are keen to hear from anyone who can lend experience with publicity and marketing, and online skills to look after the partnership’s website.
Secretary Dave Wood said: “As a community based organisation we are promoting community based activity and we need to bring into the partnership a wider skill set to lead us through this activity.”

DIGGER giant JCB has received an order worth £26 million from one of its hire-fleet customers.
The firm closed the deal for 525 of its new Loadall Telescopic Handlers with Ardent Hire Solutions, which is expanding its fleet as the construction industry starts its recovery from the pandemic.
The order spans the compact 525-60 to the 540-200 models, which have reaches of between six and 20 metres.
The machines have already started rolling off the production line at JCB’S World HQ in Rocester, along with 25 3CX backhoe loaders, which are also part of the deal.
It follows a deal in 2019 from Ardent for £75 million worth of JCB machines.
Steve Fox, JCB’S group managing director for global major accounts, said: “We are delighted.”
