STAFFORDSHIRE Moorlands theme park Alton Towers has unveiled its new chocolate factory-themed hotel room which will be available to guests from next month.

The theme park has worked with Cadbury to make the suite at the Alton Towers Hotel resemble the interior of a chocolate factory.

Visitors will be able to explore the mechanics of the interactive room and secret hideaways for “tasty treats and exciting surprises”.

Guests can immerse themselves in the room by hunting for hidden chocolate and solving the clue to unlock a safe full of more delicious delights.

The room, which sleeps up to six, is divided into two and boasts a large double bed, a double sofa bed and themed bunk-beds.

It is painted purple and features pressure dials on the walls, pipes around the ceiling

and bags of fake cocoa beans.

The first chocolate room was created at the resort 25 years ago and this new development is the latest in unique-themed suites. New for 2021, there are also four interactive Gangsta Granny-themed rooms inspired by The World of David Walliams.

All the drawings on the bedroom and bathroom walls have been hand-drawn and the 24-colour illustrated carpet took 12 weeks to produce.

Children will sleep in the “Tower of London” while parents sleep outside under the watchful eye of Ben and Granny. Other themed rooms include the Arctic Explorer, Moon Voyage and Splish Splash. Janet Gurr, hotels and accommodation development director, said: “We were really excited to partner with Cadbury to create our new chocolate room.

“After a fun-filled day of thrilling world-class rollercoasters and splashtastic water rides, families can continue the magic in the chocolate factory-themed suite and hunt for the hidden chocolate bars.

“We pride ourselves on creating thrilling, memorable and innovative experiences and we’re sure our guests will love the latest addition in our portfolio of unique themed suites.”

Guests can book stays from May 17, when the resort’s hotel is due to reopen.
