Covid almost gone locally

-

THE number of Covid-19 infections across the county is continuing to fall and the virus is almost non-existent in the Ashbourne area.

According to data up to Monday, all Ashbourne’s wards were below the measurement threshold – meaning fewer than three cases had been recorded.

There have been some very minor flare ups in some nearby wards, including Hatton and Burnaston, and Bakewell South, Youlgreave and Taddington, which contributed to a slight rise in the Derbyshire Dales’s overall rate.

Over the last two weeks the district’s rolling rate - measured per 100,000 population - has remained at 13.8.

This is comfortably below the national average and among the lowest in Derbyshire.

The county as a whole saw a rate of 18.3 last week, down from 21.1 the week before. By Monday it had dropped to 16.3. In Staffordshire the rolling rate had started to creep up following a handful of new infections, but there has since been a drop to 16.4.
