Co-op delivery to continue

-

BOSSES at Central England Co-op have announced an extension to the society’s free delivery service.

Instead of ending when all restrictions are due to lift on June 21, the Co-op says it will be extended for members until the end of the year.

Central England Co-op launched a delivery service in September 2020 in response to the pandemic with free delivery for members.

Delivery slots can be booked and delivered in under an hour by the customers’ local store.

Paul Dennis, the society’s chief retail officer, said: “The vaccination programme has so far been rolled out very successfully, but won’t be available to all until the end of July.

“In addition, there are questions over uptake and there are concerns over the vaccine efficacy over new variants.

“We expect some members in our community will still feel nervous beyond June. In addition, the wind-up of the furlough scheme in September which will likely leave families facing financial challenges.

“Thus the continuation of free delivery for members was an obvious choice.”
