Top guitarist Clive’s village hall date
ACCLAIMED guitarist and composer Clive Carroll will be the next performer to take to the stage at Alstonefield Village Hall, as the village’s concert series enjoys its comeback from Covid.
Carroll has toured and worked with guitar greats such as John Williams, Tommy Emmanuel, Xuefei Yang, Ralph Towner, and John Renbourn, as well as pop icon Madonna, but he has created a sound of his own, with a signature blend of warmth and humour, along with his technical skill.
He has a First Class Honours
Degree in Composition and Guitar, and his compositions feature influences from Elizabethan lute classics, Frank Zappa, and classical composers such as Bartok and Ligeti - along with hints of jazz and Delta blues.
In addition to the four solo albums Carroll has recorded to date, Clive has written music for television and film.
He notably composed the music for the film “Driving Lessons”, which starred Julie Walters and Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame.
Total Guitar Magazine includes him in its Top 10 Best Acoustic Guitarists of All-time.
Organiser Martin Snodin said: “Carroll’s masterful compositions, coupled with his versatility and unparalleled technical virtuosity, make him one of today’s most admired and respected guitarists.
“Probably the best and most original young acoustic guitarist and composer in Britain “
Tickets for the concert on Saturday, February 26 from 8pm, which includes support from Martin Bell, are priced at £12 in advance or £14 on the door.
