Young Farmers raise £700 for charity with panto performance
Young Farmers have raised more than £700 with a charity panto.
Club members trod the boards to raise money for Farming Community Network, which supports farmers and families. Around 20 of the club’s members, have been working hard for the past three months to produce the pantomime, competing in the
East Midlands Area YFC competition and do a public show for a great cause.
Secretary Lucy Weston said: “It didn’t take us long to decide what we wanted to do as so many of us love Shrek.
“We practiced three nights a week and after a lot of laughter and hard work we had it! Ashbourne YFC presents The Ogre & The Princess. The charity performance was at Mayfield Memorial Hall starting at 7.30pm on February 25.
“We then went to the competition that Sunday at Ashover village hall. Last performance of the day, all the pressure was on. Could we do it and make it to the national finals?
“We had a great time performing, we sat and waited for the results. We came second!
We were so happy and proud of ourselves. Rachel Challinor even won Best Actress.”
“Look out for updates on the Facebook and Instagram pages ‘Ashbourne Young Farmers Club’ and @ashbourneyfc
