FAMILY COMPANY TO EXPAND AFTER FILLING UP IN JUST A YEAR
A FAMILY-RUN firm that set out to offer a new storage solution for residents and businesses in Ashbourne is already expanding.
Vulcan Self Storage set up shop in the Airfield Industrial Estate in 2020 after recognising a need for secure self-storage in the area and the facility had reached 95% capacity in just 12 months.
The family that started the business, which has also spent the last 34 years building up the successful Peak Tanning and Beauty Supplies, has been planning to expand the storage company since it got off to its brisk start, and a second building just across the road from the original unit has now been secured.
Director Sean Ferniough explained: “With the many new housing developments in the Ashbourne area, we have found that storage facilities whilst moving house are sought after.
“People need security for their goods along with flexible access times all within a convenient location.
“We therefore secured an ideal building which is located close by and is only across the road from our current business premises on Blenheim
Road on the Airfield Industrial Estate. Phase one is now complete and we now have another 50 storage units ranging from 10 sq ft to 225 sq ft and within the new premises we have also added a goods lift for units on the first floor, this taking our current total units between the two sites to 141 including four outdoor storage containers.
“We continue to be focused on offering the highest levels of friendly, efficient, customer service that we, ourselves would be happy to receive.”
The 24hr CCTV surveillance cameras, individual PIN code keypad entry, surveillance systems and individually alarmed units “will ensure your belongings are safe with us”.

Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm, there is a dedicated member of staff onsite to assist with any enquiries.
“Customer access hours are Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm.”
The business is affiliated with the UK Self Storage Association and sells a selection of packing essentials from its onsite shop.
