Excitement grows as wait is nearly over for ride to be ‘Reborn’

-

THEME park bosses are continuing to tease just what thrill-seekers can expect when an iconic ride is ‘Reborn’. Nemesis at Alton Towers has been closed since November 2022 with fans now told the wait for the overhauled attraction will be ‘worth it’.

As previously reported the theme park had released a promotional video to stoke up the excitement around its return - pencilled in for this spring. Now bosses say the transformation has seen the entire 250-tonne, 716-metre-long track replaced with ‘a complete update’ of the beast which gives the ride its name.

When it is relaunched the ride will be known as Nemesis Reborn. It marks the biggest transformation in the ride’s history following its launch in 1994 when it became Europe’s first inverted rollercoaster.

Along with the release of the name, the park has also released further imagery around the ride. A promotional poster shows a red-eyed creature brandishing crab-like pincers and what look like tentacles.

While the resort is yet to provide a launch date, fans are being assured ‘the wait will be worth it’.

Bianca Sammut, divisional director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “Nemesis is utterly cherished by generations of thrill-seekers. As Europe’s first inverted rollercoaster it occupies a special place in the heart for so many.

“At Alton Towers Resort we have been working tirelessly to transform this iconic attraction and we are delighted to give fans a first look at the terrifying creature that gives it its name. This year fans will be able to experience the stand-out thrills of Nemesis Reborn for themselves. We’re keeping tight-lipped about the exact date of its return for now, but we can assure you ... the wait will be worth it.”

We have previously reported how, as part of the changes, Alton Towers is making improvements to ‘revitalise’ the resort’s Forbidden Valley area - home to the Nemesis. It recently submitted plans for an extension and internal alterations to the former Ripsaw Cafe.

Proposals have also been lodged to demolish The Edge interactive games arcade and replace it with a new arcade.
