Top two both win big to stay clear of pack

IT IS as you were at the top of Ashbourne Town Darts League Division One as the top two both returned from the festive break with 8-1 wins.

Mayfield Arms were away to The Bullets and Rob Smith, Steve Mellor and Reggie Robinson all scored five registers, while Graham Sowter hit a 129 finish.

Tim Allen was the sole winner for the hosts.

Sycamore, at home to Memorial Arms had Paul Williams in fine form with nine registers.

Dave Moss won his singles for the losers.

The Rams had a 6-3 win away to Bowling Green.

Paul Barlow scored seven registers, including a 105 double start, and had a 19dart leg, while Rich West hit a 108 finish for The Rams.

Colin Wignall had a 20dart leg for Bowling Green.

Dominic Harrison scored nine registers and had a 20dart leg for BGB in a 6-3 win away to The Cricketers.

Carl Allen hit nine registers and Richard Lowe had a 102 finish for the hosts.

Rose & Crown edged further away from the bottom places with a 5-4 win at home to Mayfield C.

Chris Ford had an 89 finish, Andy Hill had a 17-dart leg and Gav Ratcliffe had a 19-dart leg for the losers.

Mark Pickup scored six registers, had an 88 finish and a 21-dart leg for Smith’s Tavern when they won 5-4 at home to X-men.

Steve Millward scored six registers for X-men.

In Division Two, leaders The Wheel hung on to top spot when they beat Crown Inn 5-4 at home on the final doubles.

Carl Moon scored three registers and Kieron Moon hit three, including a 112 finish, and had a 21-dart leg for The Wheel.

Lester James scored four registers for the Crown.

Matt Meakin scored five registers, including a 136 double start, and Keith Boam hit a 101 finish for Hanging Bridge in a 7-2 win at home to White Swan.

Jake Edge hit three registers for the visitors.

Phil Walker hit three registers, including a 180, for Holly Bush during their 7-2 away win against The Pav.

Royal Oak were away to Red Lion and won 6-3.

The Yew Tree, away to Exservicem­en’s Club, came back from 4-2 down to win 5-4.

Chris Bates hit four registers and Martin Sheard had a 92 finish for Yew Tree, while Paul Cotton scored five registers for the home team.

The Men’s Singles tournament will be held on Wednesday, January 24 at the Ex-servicemen’s Club.

Entry is £2, which includes a raffle ticket, and players should register by 7.30pm.
