Japan Airlines, China Eastern to Form New Joint Venture

-

Japan Airlines (JAL) and China Eastern Airlines have announced that they will be forming a joint venture in the aim of capitalising on the growth in China’s tourist market.

The agreement marks the first of such deals between the two companies, expanding on their existing codeshare agreement that has been in place since 2002.

“We look to bring more benefits, more choices, and more value to our customers,” said Yoshiharu

Ueki, Chairman on JAL. “We believe this partnership will generate more passenger traffic between the two countries and open up commercial opportunities.”

The venture will include JAL’s domestic network spanning 50 cities across Japan, alongside China Eastern’s 80 domestic flight routes across China.
