Pa­pua New Guinea (PNG) has re­vealed that it will con­tinue to up­hold its agreed deal with Huawei Tech­nolo­gies in the face of com­pe­ti­tion from the likes of Aus­tralia, Ja­pan and the US.

The deal will see the Chi­nese Com­pany work­ing on a ma­jor telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions con­struc­tion project that is ex­pected to dra­mat­i­cally trans­form PNG’s ex­ist­ing in­ter­net in­fra­struc­ture.

This will en­tail the im­ple­men­ta­tion of a 5,457-kilo­me­tre net­work of sub­ma­rine ca­bles that are set to link 14 coastal towns around the coun­try. help­ing to put up and com­ing global cities on the map, draw­ing tens of thou­sands of in­ter­na­tional busi­ness tourists.

The Osaka Expo is set to be held on a man­made is­land in seven years’ time, cen­tring around a theme of ‘So­ci­ety 5.0’, re­veal­ing how new tech­nolo­gies such as ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence can be used for pub­lic ben­e­fit.
