Youngster aims to become Miss Teen Great Britain

A YOUNG Tamworth superstar says she wants to show dreams can come true and put her hometown on the map after reaching the semi finals of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain.

Destiny Roberts, aged 15, from Glascote Heath, has her sights set on the grand finals after reaching the latter stages of the contest.

The Rawlett School student could win £500 and be crowned the overall Miss Junior Teen Great Britain 2024 later this year. This is in addition to having 12 months of appearance­s and charity work.

Proud mum Charlene Freeman said: “Destiny was entered into Miss Junior Teen Great Britain a few months ago and has got through all the way to the semi finals.

“Now she is in the semi finals she goes on the website at www.missteengr­eatbritain.co.uk as a semi finalist then she will wait to hear if she has made it to the grand final where there is a cash prize of £500, a crown, a sash and she could be crowned Miss Junior Teen Great Britain 2024. That will be placed in October in Blackpool.

“This will open many doors and opportunit­ies for her future. Me and her dad are so proud.

“She is such an inspiratio­n, she is achieving in every aspect of school. She is kind, caring, loyal and beautiful inside and out. Destiny wants to empower young girls like herself to have self love and confidence and show girls dreams can come true if you work hard.

“Destiny loves swimming, ice skating and trampolini­ng and she also takes part in cross country at school and really enjoys it. She is a loving big sister to her brother and sister and is due to have another sibling anytime now.

“She is inspired by the beauty and fashion world and this opportunit­y will open many doors for her bright future ahead. We are all rooting for her and it is amazing to put Tamworth on the map.”

A spokespers­on for the contest said: “The contests were created to be a positive and confidence-building experience for young girls and teenagers.

“We intend for the girls to make new friends and aim to make each and every contestant feel like a queen. Most importantl­y, we open doors to fun and exciting, confidence­building opportunit­ies. The Miss Teen Great Britain pageant empowers finalists and teaches them to recognise their successes, and to celebrate them.

“This is a wonderful opportunit­y for contestant­s to make new friends from across Great Britain. Little Miss Teen Great Britain, Miss Junior Teen Great Britain and Miss Teen Great Britain offers teenagers the chance to participat­e in a competitio­n that combines glamour and celebratin­g their success and achievemen­ts.

“It gives finalists the characterb­uilding experience of a lifetime. Being a part of our organisati­on is about celebratin­g and empowering women, we recognise that all women are beautiful and one of the most fantastic qualities is when a girl is unapologet­ically herself.
