Auction was the perfect place for any vintage toy collectors
THE latest auction at The Tamworth Auction Rooms proved the perfect place for collectors of vintage toys.
Matchbox die-cast and original Star Wars toys were especially popular at Richard Winterton Auctioneers’ Collectors Sale.
In the toys section, an impressive single owner collection of Matchbox totalled £3,025.
This included a boxed Moko Lesney Matchbox series Bedford articulated low loader No.27, an earlier smaller version with a pale blue cab, selling at £340.
Another single owner collection of die-cast totalled £900 and featured a boxed Moko Lesney Matchbox series Cadillac Sixty Special No.27 in metallic pale green with a cream roof, selling at £400.
Other collections gracing the sale at the Church Street premises included a large archive of Napoleonic soldier figures by Britains and Del Prado, totalling £1,730.
A 1920s French JEP tinplate Delahaye fire truck, No.7390, sold at £500 and another client’s vintage Star Wars toys made £840.
“The latter collection, catalogued across four lots, comprised 1977 A New Hope, 1980 The Empire Strikes Back and 1982, 1983 and 1984 Return Of The Jedi era original figures with weapons and accessories,” said a spokesperson for Richard Winterton £500 was the hammer price for this 1920s tinplate fire truck.

“There were also original era vehicles including Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder, an Imperial scout walker and the iconic Millennium Falcon.”
The medals and militaria section included a small collection of World War Two and later cloth insignia selling at £440, a collection of military interest photographs making £380, a RFC/RAF First World War archive
A boxed Moko Lesney Matchbox Bedford articulated low loader sold at £340. fetched £340 and a lot featuring vintage radio devices and components sold at £300.
