MP heads over to residents AGM

-

TAMWORTH’S Member of Parliament, Sarah Edwards, attended the Annual General Meeting of the Dosthill and Two Gates Residents’ Association last week as concerns were raised over traffic lights, potholes and more.

After the business session, Sarah was invited to discuss local issues and concerns with residents.

Topics raised included the need for a filter light at Two Gates traffic lights to allow traffic to cross from the Fazeley direction into Dosthill Road, and a police camera to catch drivers who cross the junction from Wilnecote direction on the red light.

At peak times, the inability of traffic from Fazeley direction to turn right also hinders traffic trying to go straight over or turn left, with congestion often tailing back to Fazeley Square.

The MP admitted she’d experienced the peak time congestion herself, and shared in the general frustration.

Other concerns raised were longstanding cracking of the A51 surface by Hedging Lane, potholes and repairing road surfaces. Also, Dosthill Primary Academy, and the official crossing point and lollipop lady provided for their safety.

Sarah said: “It was lovely to be able to meet with residents, hear their concerns and ideas and their potential solutions to some of the problems identified.

“I will raise their issues with appropriate organisations to see how these might be progressed. It is an asset to have such an active and passionate residents’ association. Their events programme, and the activities I learned about, are a wonderful bonus for people living in that community.”

At the AGM, chairman Dave Ansell retired and was succeeded by Linda Gill, with Steve Purslove becoming vicechairman, and Roger Heath and Bev Lander continuing as secretary and treasurer respectively.
