CHAPEL CAFÉ PLUS: In last week’s Village Voice we missed mentioning the first coffee morning of the month in the Norman Chapel. The coffee morning will take place as normal in the Norman Chapel on Tuesday, 16 April from 10.30am to 12 noon. The usual hot drinks and food offerings will be available as always, including bacon sandwiches. Do feel free to pop in and see what the speaker this week has in store. BROOM: On Thursday last week a meeting with Staffordshire representatives had been arranged to discuss developments in The Broom, including improvements to existing access paths. At this time, all access paths are dangerous due to the amount of rainfall. It is clear that many dog walkers have chosen to reroute their dog walks away from The Broom. Recently, a resident suffered severe injuries sustaining three broken bones in a fall on uneven slippery ground at the Arkle entrance to The Broom. It took over two hours for an ambulance to attend and the residents who assisted the lady should be thanked for their efforts. She was unable to move and lay on cold damp muddy ground in the rain. Footpath 80 is now the sole means of access to The Broom from Cadogan Road and School Lane. This path is often unusable because of surface water and mud. Discussion took place about a possible safer route to school path running across the bottom of The Broom and also a path from the Arkle entry to link with the main path to High Street. None of these projects will be cheap to fund so investigation will be needed into methods of obtaining grants and local funding to carry out these improvements after permission from the appropriate authorities. The remedial work carried out by the contractors is still fenced and has several areas of water. On our visit, three mallard ducks were

happily occupying one of the ponds. CHILL AND CHATTER: On Wednesday, 17 April, from 1 until 3 at DBC (Dosthill Boys Club) in Cadogan Road, join us for a cuppa and a cake with friends, for just a £1 nominal cost. This is the second afternoon venture so do come long and see if last month’s attendance of 30 can be bettered. For details contact bev. dosthill.wi@gmail.com or 07866 681785.

WELCOME BISHOP: The service for clergy and congregations from all the churches in the Coleshill and Polesworth Area Deanery to meet and welcome the new Bishop of Birmingham will be at Coleshill Parish Church this Sunday afternoon, 14 April at 3.30pm. As a consequence, there will be no evening service at St Paul’s, Dosthill on that day.

The deanery service will also be an opportunity for parishioners to catch up with Dosthill’s former vicar, the Reverend Canon Louise Shaw, who now serves as the full-time Area Dean.
