PETER ALLDAY, an Olympic ham­mer thrower for Bri­tain in the 1950s, has died aged 90.

A founder mem­ber of the Ham­mer Cir­cle, he also won bronze at the 1958 Com­mon­wealth Games, held the UK record with 59.61m and was AAA cham­pion in 1956.
