Previously, items like this have typically gone up for auction at annual charity dinners with bidders restricted to those at the function. But this new idea opens up the possibility for anyone to buy the items as Baulch strives to make charity fundraising easier.

Shaun Pickering, the son of Jean and Ron, says: “The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund was set up to help young athletes on their journey to the top. It is always very pleasing to us when athletes that we helped on that journey, recognise the part that we played by giving back to our charity.

“We have had athletes run in the London Marathon to raise money, nominate RPMF as their chosen charity on TV quiz shows, and even personally repay the total in grants that they received from us in their youth. We are grateful that these great athletes appreciate what we were able to do for them when they needed help and support us in our efforts to help the next generation.”

But hurry, there are just days to go before bids close for Gemili’s and Rooney’s tops.
