Shaun Pickering, the son of Jean and Ron, says: “The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund was set up to help young athletes on their journey to the top. It is always very pleasing to us when athletes that we helped on that journey, recognise the part that we played by giving back to our charity.

“We have had athletes run in the London Marathon to raise money, nominate RPMF as their chosen charity on TV quiz shows, and even personally repay the total in grants that they received from us in their youth. We are grateful that these great athletes appreciate what we were able to do for them when they needed help and support us in our efforts to help the next generation.”
