‘SEXIST’ SANDI ADVERT PULLED

AN ADVERTISEMENT for an indoor athletics event in Germany that used a photograph of pole vaulter

Sandi Morris has been swapped for a picture of shot putter Tomas Stanek after the Morris image was deemed sexist.

The original advert – to promote the IAAF indoor meeting in Dusseldorf – showed world indoor champion Morris from behind as she was just about to take her run-up.

But the local council complained and asked the organisers to change it, leaving US-based Morris to say on social media: “I would love to live in a world where one could see an image of a woman’s body and not sexualise it in their minds. The photo was of me competing – in a uniform I chose – standing ready.

“A woman has the right to be seen, just as men do, without always being sexualised.”
