EILIDH DOYLE is relishing the prospect of competing at another home championships, particularly as she feels she is running without pressure at this stage of her career.

Scotland’s most decorated track and field athlete got her 2019 up and running by clocking 24.29 to finish third in a mixed 200m race at the recent GAA Miler Meet.

She will be looking to contest the 400m at the forthcoming European Indoor Championships in Glasgow but, with Olympic, world, Commonwealth and European prizes to her name, the 31-year-old admits her approach is now a little more relaxed.

“I have got my medals now, I can just go out and run for the love of running,” she says. “I definitely feel pressure-free, more so the last couple of years. Rather than thinking I must be in shape for this or that champs, I’m much more chilled out than I used to be.”
