I WAS A DARK STAR ALWAYS

-

Ben Wishaw pays tribute to gay WW1 soldier and poet Wilfred Owen in a new film installation marking the centenary of his death. The actor reads aloud a collection of his poems and letters in I Was A Dark Star Always, playing at the John Hansard Gallery, Southampton, until 25 January. Director Adam Low filmed at key locations from Owen’s life, including the Sambre- Oise canal in Northern France, where he was killed in action aged 25, just one week — almost to the hour — before the armistice was signed on 11 November 1918.
