A SLICE OF PUGLIA
Thinking about your next trip? Enjoy fine- wining and dining on one of Italy Gay Travels gastronomic adventures around the beautiful Salento region
It’s that time of the year when our thoughts turn towards travel plans for the coming months, daydreaming of escapes from the mundanity of daily life. Well, perhaps Italy Gay Travels has just the, ahem, package for you.
During 2019, they’ll be hosting three six- night Gay Salento Food & Wine Tours, exploring the Salento region of Puglia — the heel of the boot of Italy. Perfect for those who enjoy the finer things in life, guests will be able to discover the best Salento has to offer, from gastronomy and wine- making to sight- seeing and boat excursions.
Arriving either by plane into Brindisi airport or train to the town of Lecce, your hosts from Italy Gay Travels will escort you to the private villa that you’ll call home during the trip. Over a welcome dinner, you’ll be able to bond with your fellow guests. In the following days, your gustatory adventure will continue with hands- on cooking lessons and demonstrations from local chefs, creating fresh pasta and regional dishes using local produce and recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. You’ll also see local farmers’ markets, dine in celebrated restaurants, visit well- known wineries and discover how olive oil is made at a typical frantoio.
Beyond the foodie aspects of the trip, you’ll be able to visit some of Salento’s prettiest towns, including Gallipolli, Lecce, Otranto and Porto Cesareo, enjoy a boat trip around the coast and spend time sunbathing on sandy beaches.
On the last night of the trip, there’ll also be time to party with locals in both the villa and then the gay bars and clubs of Gallipolli.
Who knows — perhaps your newfound culinary knowledge will result in your own Call Me By Your Name moment with a handsome Italian stranger…
In 2019, Gay Salento Food & Wine Tours will run from 14- 20 April, 24- 30 August and 20- 26 October ( singles only). Book your place from € 1,790, with the option to pay a € 500 deposit. italygaytravels.com
