My tattoos are less about marking milestones in my life or cementing memories, and more a simple extension of my personality and interests such as Japanese artwork, comic books and mythology.
Some people individualise themselves with their clothes, hair or the type of art that they hang on their walls, I’ve gone for tattoos instead. Plus, being ginger, they do make me look less pale because a tan is out of the question!
I set to work on my left arm sleeve when I was 18, starting with a little dragon. Now I have three tattoos of the fire- breathing beasts but I don’t know why. I was born in the Chinese year of the dragon so that’s a pretty cool coincidence.
It’s not because I’m a fiery redhead by the way — talk about stereotyping!
