ASTON Martin isn’t the only manufacturer that’s branched out from the humble car and let its designers loose. Over the years, most other brands have dabbled in planes, trains and bikes, so we’ve rounded up our pick with this top five.
Honda Jet
IT’S produced talking robots and lawnmowers in the past, but Honda’s 40-foot executive Jet makes our list. One of the faster planes in its class, it lets you cruise in luxury at 30,000 feet.
Hyundai container ships
IN Ulsan, South Korea, near the world’s largest car plant, Hyundai has the biggest dockyard and shipbuilding site. This built the planet’s biggest container ship; the Globe can carry over 19,000 containers and has a near-100,000bhp engine.
Skoda bikes
HAVING started out making bicycles, Skoda has returned with a lineup of road and mountain bikes for men, women and children to support the brand’s Tour de France sponsorship.
BMW Bobsled
BMW left its German roots behind in 2014 to help develop Team USA’S bobsled for the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia. The carbonfibre sleds propelled the Americans to two silver medals and a bronze.
Bugatti train
BUGATTI was designing trains long before the Veyron. In 1932 it fitted four 12.7-litre engines destined for the Type 41 Royale to a train called Autorail – a precursor to today’s high-speed rail.
